Full Home Makeovers: Change Your Brick Color for Good

A full home brick color change stains every brick on your house a new, permanent color. It typically costs $15,000 to $25,000 or more, takes about 7 to 10 days, and never has to be done again. It is the closest thing there is to getting a new house without moving.

Why do people restain a perfectly good house?

Because they never picked the brick. One couple we worked with had a big, beautiful home in a nice neighborhood. They just did not like the color, so we stained the entire house, a $32,000 full makeover, and now it is the house they actually wanted.

The gable end of a Carmel, Indiana home in 2003, light and dark brick units mixed around an arched window
Before, 2003: a Carmel home with blotchy light and dark brick.
The same gable in 2019, the brick one even tone around the arched window
After, 2019: the same wall, one even color, sixteen years on.

What does a full home makeover cost?

We do not quote by the square foot. Two houses the same size can need very different work: one wall might take one coat, another might take four coats and a custom-mixed color every few feet. We price by what your house actually needs, and you get it in writing.

Compare that honestly with paint: about $10,000 to $15,000 up front, then roughly $10,000 again every few years, forever, while the paint film damages the brick underneath. Brick staining vs painting has the full math.

How do you pick the new color?

On your wall, not on a screen. We stain a sample area on your actual brick and tune it, coat by coat, until it is exactly what you pictured. Darker, richer, warmer, grayer, almost anything is on the table. See what brick stain colors are possible. The sample panel costs $1,800 and is credited toward your job.

What is it like while we work?

A crew of four, about 7 to 10 days, brushing mineral stain into each brick by hand. No spray overspray, no plastic sheeting over your windows for weeks, no smell of paint. You watch the house change wall by wall, and when we leave you get the lifetime warranty in writing.

What Homeowners Ask About Full Makeovers

Most full homes take about 7 to 10 days with our crew on site. You watch the color change wall by wall, and the result is permanent.
Before the job, we stain a sample area on your actual wall and adjust it until it is exactly right. You approve the real color on your real brick, and the sample cost is credited toward the job.
No. Most makeovers happen because the owner simply wants a different color. If the water test shows your brick absorbs, we can stain it.
Because it is permanent. Paint costs less up front, then peels and gets repainted every few years while it damages the brick. Stain is done once and never maintained.
