Blending a Repair Patch Into a Pennsylvania Store Wall

A repaired area beside this store's entrance came out a different color and a different texture from the wall around it. The business paid to have that one area stained back into the wall rather than rebuilt. It was photographed again twelve years later and certified then.

Case No. 159
Structure Grocery store
Location Pennsylvania
Stained 2007
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 12 years, Silver level

2007

  1. The store entrance in 2007, a red brick pier at the corner beside the doors and the long wall running back along the parking lot under a cream banding course During, 2007 View this photo larger
  2. The wall beside the entrance in 2007, a field of pale salmon and grey brick meeting a redder, rougher brick down a vertical line, with a cream banding course across both During, 2007 View this photo larger

What was wrong

An area that had been repaired did not match the building around it. The file records two faults in one line: the color was off, and the brick had a different texture.

It was hired by the business that runs the store, not the mason and not the brick supplier.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, over brick and mortar together. The scope was one area, the spot closest to the store entrance, and the file is plain that the rest of the elevation was left as it stood.

What twelve years prove

Same wall, same one area, and a stain still doing what it was mixed to do. On the certification scale that is Silver, which covers ten years and over. As of 2026 the work is nineteen years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 159, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.

Storyline
"This project was successful, but nothing to write home about. This store had numerous issues. We were hired to color the spot closest to the store entrance “less noticable”. If you look at the after pictures of the entire wall, the wall still has numerous color issues. We were only hired to fix the one spot. 12 years later, our stain has held up well. We can always be hired back out to fix the entire elevation."
