The stained brick of the gable end in 2019, a deep red brown wall with rough rust coloured units projecting from the face

Taking a Michigan Tudor to a Darker Red Brick

Nothing on this house had failed. The owner wanted the brick darker and redder, so the whole elevation was stained by hand in 2001. It was photographed again eighteen years later and certified then.

2001

  2. A low brick garden wall and a wrought iron gate beside the house in 2001, the wall pale and mottled next to a warmer pier with rough units projecting from it During, 2001 View this photo larger

What the owner asked for

Nothing was wrong with the brick. The file records the request in one line: the customer wanted to make the brick more dark red. A homeowner paid for it, and it is logged as an addition or makeover rather than a complaint.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand across the whole elevation. The file says the entire brick was stained and enhancements were added, which is why the rough faced units projecting from the wall still read as their own rust tone against the field.

What eighteen years prove

The same gable end, the same glazed tile panel under the roof vent, and a color that is still the color it was mixed to. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-five years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 147, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
