Darkening Light Brick in a Leonard Michigan Gable Peak
The peak of this house went up with light brick that did not belong in the color range. The light units were darkened in October 2006 to blend into the wall around them. The same gable was photographed again in 2021, fifteen years on.
2006
What was wrong
The peak of the house, in the file's words, had a light brick that did not belong in the color range. Nothing had failed. The blend was wrong in one place, and a gable end is the wall a street sees whole.
What was done
The light units were darkened with stain until they sat inside the range of the wall around them. The file records it in one line: we darkened the light brick. The before frame is dated 5 October 2006 and the after frame the next day.
2021, fifteen years on
What fifteen years prove
Same gable, same vent, shot in winter with snow on the shrubs. The darkened units have not separated from the wall around them. The revisit carries the certification stamp, and the level line on the form was left blank; on the certification scale fifteen years meets the Gold threshold. As of 2026 the work is twenty years old, and the 2021 revisit is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 375, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
