Darkening the Lighter Run on an Indianapolis School Wall
Two runs of brick that did not match went up on this Indianapolis school. The brick manufacturer paid to have the lighter run darkened into the other in 2002. The wall was photographed again nineteen years later and certified then.
2002
What was wrong
Two runs of brick that did not match were put on the building. The 2002 photographs show a paler run across the top of a long windowless elevation and a darker run below. Nothing had failed. The brick manufacturer hired the correction, not the school.
What was done
Mineral stain on the lighter run. The file records it in one line: the lighter brick was darkened to create a better blend on the wall. The darker run was left alone.
2021, nineteen years on
What nineteen years prove
One range across the whole elevation. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-four years old, and the 2021 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 396, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
