Blending Darks and Lights on an Indiana Ranch Home
The brick on this single-story house went up blotchy, dark units sitting next to pale ones across every wall. The company that made the brick paid to have it blended in 1997. It was photographed again twenty-two years later and certified then.
1997
What was wrong
The file puts it in ten words: they had blotchy brick all over, the homeowners were distraught. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty. The Hired by line reads brick manufacturer, so the company that made the brick paid to put it right.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed into the brick by hand, unit by unit. Not one color over the whole wall. The line in the file is exact: the walls were blended by lightening a percentage of the darks and darkening a percentage of the lights. That is why the house still reads as a range of brick rather than one flat tone.
2019, twenty-two years on
What twenty-two years prove
The mark on the file is Platinum, which covers twenty years and over on the certification scale. The storyline is one sentence: the staining looks the same today as it did in 1997. As of 2026 the work is twenty-nine years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the house. This is the one for case 074, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
