The Walgreens seen across its car park in 2019, the brick along the front reading as one even red brown range

Matching a Brick Column at a Fort Wayne Walgreens

A car hit this store, and the brick column at the front did not match the building around it. All of the brick was stained in 2007. It was photographed again twelve years later and certified then.

Case No. 195
Structure Walgreens pharmacy
Location Fort Wayne, Indiana
Stained 2007
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 12 years, Silver level

2007

  1. A brick column at a store entrance in pale tan, standing against the darker red brown brick of the wall behind it, with a plywood panel over a damaged section Before, 2007 View this photo larger
  2. The same column photographed from the car park after staining, its brick now a red brown range with darker and lighter units through it After, 2007 View this photo larger

What was wrong

The file records it in two sentences. There was a car impact. The brick column did not match the store. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty: one column at the entrance did not agree with the wall behind it.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand. The file gives the scope as one hundred percent of the brick. It also records why a single column was worth the work: it may have only been one column that did not match, but it was in front of the store, and stuck out to everyone.

2019, twelve years on

  1. The store seen from across its car park in 2019, the brick along the whole front reading as one even red brown range under the pharmacy signs 2019 View this photo larger
  2. Close view of an outside brick corner at the shopfront, the units in mixed tans and browns with pale mortar joints 2019 View this photo larger
  3. A brick column photographed from its base looking up to the soffit, the units running in mixed browns and tans against the sky 2019 View this photo larger
  4. The entrance corner of the store in 2019, the brick column beside the doors reading as the same red brown range as the wall it stands against 12 Years After View this photo larger

What twelve years prove

Same store, same column, photographed again in 2019 and still reading as one wall. On the certification scale that is Silver, which covers ten years and over. As of 2026 the work is nineteen years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 195, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
