The brick of the Wooster office building in 2019, running unbroken across the wall and round an outside corner

Matching New Brick and Mortar on a Wooster Office

New brick went up on this office building and a few areas of it did not match the range. All of the new brick was stained in 1997. The building was photographed again twenty-two years later and certified then.

Case No. 241
Structure Two-story office building
Location Wooster, Ohio
Stained 1997
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 22 years, Platinum level

1997

  1. The new elevation in 1997 before the work, the brick reading as a flat pale buff running away to the wing beyond, bare soil still at the foot of the wall Before, 1997 View this photo larger
  2. The same wall later in 1997 from further along, the brick now reading warm red brown with darker units scattered through the courses and the mortar carrying the same tone After, 1997 View this photo larger

What was wrong

New construction, not a failure. The box marked under Reason for project is addition or makeover, and the Issues line reads: there were a few areas of brick and mortar that did not match the range. Hired by reads business or corporation, so the building's owner paid for it.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed into the brick by hand, and not just over the areas that were off. The file gives the scope in one line: we stained 100% of the new brick. The mortar was stained as well, and the storyline names the unit as a sand molded brick.

2019, twenty-two years on

  1. The outside corner of the office building in 2019, the brick carrying round the corner as one buff and tan range under a glazed upper storey, with the certification stamp at the corner of the frame 22 Years After View this photo larger

What twenty-two years prove

The 2019 frame is an outside corner of the same building, the brick reading as one range across both walls with no patch standing out of it. On the certification scale twenty-two years is Platinum, which covers twenty years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-nine years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 241, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
