Changing the Brick Color on a Wampler Heights Lake House

The brick on this lake house arrived with the house, a pale buff and tan blend. The owners wanted a different one. It was stained in 2008 and photographed again eleven years later, when the file records that they still liked the color.

What the owners wanted

Nothing had failed here. Nothing was dirty and nothing was off color. The brick came with the house in a pale buff and cream range, and the people about to live in it wanted a different one. The file puts the reason in nine words: the homeowners wanted a new look for their home.

They hired it themselves. On the form the box ticked is Homeowner, and the reason is makeover rather than complaint.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed into the brick by hand, unit by unit. The color goes into the face of each brick rather than over it, so the texture stays legible and the finished wall still reads as fired brick. The file calls it a makeover unique to the homeowner, which is the honest description of a color chosen rather than corrected.

2019, eleven years on

What eleven years prove

The same brick, a warm red and brown, still even across a whole elevation after eleven winters on a lake. The line on the form is that the homeowner still loved the color of their brick home. That is Silver, which covers ten years and over. As of 2026 the work is eighteen years old.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 207, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
