Darkening a Wrong Lot of Brick in a Uniontown Peak
A different lot of brick went into the peak above the garage of this home, and it showed. The brick manufacturer paid to have the peak stained a shade darker in 2012 rather than taken down. It was photographed again in 2020 and certified then.
2012
What was wrong
A different lot of brick had been laid in the peak above the garage. Same product, different run, and the peak read lighter than the wall under it. The file does not soften it: the wrong brick were put in by mistake, and it looked bad. The company that made the brick hired the correction.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, and only where the peak was off. The file records the whole correction in one line: the brick was stained, darkening it slightly. A shade is all the gap was, and a shade is all that was moved.
2020, eight years on
What eight years prove
Same gables, one run of brick from the peak to the sills. On the certification scale that is Bronze, which covers seven to nine years. The file adds its own note: it still looks great, but we'll keep watching it. As of 2026 the work is fourteen years old, and the 2020 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 353, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
