The St Clair house seen from the street in 2019, one even range of red brick across the gables and the entry arch

Staining Discolored Areas on a St Clair Michigan Home

Areas of the brick on this house came out discolored. The company that made the brick paid to have those areas stained in 2000. It was photographed again nineteen years later, from the street, and certified then.

What was wrong

Areas of the brick on the house were discolored. Not the whole elevation, areas of it. The first frame shows how the job was surveyed: a strip of masking tape folded into an arrow, taped up to point at one off color unit, with the camera date stamp reading 8 30 '00.

The company that made the brick paid for it, not the owner and not the mason.

What was done

The correction line in the file is five words: we stained the discolored areas. Mineral stain, brushed in by hand, unit by unit, only where the color was off. That is why the wall still reads as one range of brick rather than one flat color.

What nineteen years prove

The 2019 photograph was taken from the street, as close as the owner allowed. The house had changed hands in between, and the new owner, told what had been done to his brick, never knew it had been stained. On the certification scale nineteen years is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-six years old.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 093, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.

Storyline
"The homeowner only allowed us to take 2019 after pictures from the street. Even from the street, we were able to see a lot of the stained areas. We explained to the new owner the work we did on his house (before he bought it) and he was impressed and never knew it was stained! What a testament, still looks great today!"
