Matching Brick and Mortar on a South Bend Home Addition
An addition went on this two-story home and the homeowners wanted the brick to match. They hired the work themselves. It was photographed again in 2019, eleven years on, and certified then.
2008
What was wrong
The file puts it in six words: the homeowners wanted a better match. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty. The Hired by line reads homeowner, not a brick company and not a builder, so this one was paid for by the people living in the house.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed into the brick and the mortar by hand. The line in the file is one sentence: 100% of the brick and mortar stained for a better match. The two frames above are the same wall and the same two windows.
2019, eleven years on
What eleven years prove
The mark on the file is Silver, which covers ten years and over on the certification scale. Eleven years after the stain went on, the front still reads as one range of brick rather than as two. As of 2026 the work is eighteen years old.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 012, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
