The brick arcade at the back of the Powell house in 2019, arch heads and column corners in the same range as the brick around them

Matching the Shaped Brick on Powell Home Columns

The special shapes on this home went up a different color from the brick around them. The company that made the brick paid to have every shape stained to match. It was photographed again seven years later and certified then.

Case No. 313

What was wrong

The field brick was fine. The shapes were not. Special shapes, the units that turn a pier corner and spring an arch, are molded separately from the brick they sit beside, and on this house they came out a different color. The file puts the complaint in nine words: the corner shapes on the columns did not match.

It was hired by the brick manufacturer. Not the builder, and not the family whose house it was.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed into the shapes by hand while the house was still a building site. The file records the scope in six words: we stained 100% of the shapes. The field brick was left alone.

What seven years prove

Same piers, same arches, and the shapes still sit in the range of the brick around them. On the certification scale that is Bronze, which covers seven to nine years. As of 2026 the work is fourteen years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 313, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
