Staining Chipped Cut and Rollback Brick in Plymouth, Indiana
The cut and rollback face on some of the brick chipped off and left red patches across the wall. The brick manufacturer paid to have the exposed areas stained to match in 1997. Photographed again twenty-two years later and certified Platinum.

What was wrong
Cut and rollback brick carries a layered face texture over a red body. On some units that face chipped off and left red patches, in the file's words. It is recorded as a complaint, and the brick manufacturer hired the correction, not the homeowners.
What was done
Only the exposed body areas were stained, in a custom blend matched to the face around them. The file is specific about why stain and not a coating: a film would have filled the layered texture. Stain absorbs into the pores and leaves the texture as it was.

What twenty-two years prove
The revisit note in the file: twenty-two years later and no fading, blistering, cracking, peeling or flaking. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which starts at twenty years. As of 2026 the work is twenty-nine years old, and the 2019 revisit is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 101, transcribed beside the form page so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
