Staining Stone to Match a Peoria Home Addition

Homeowners were expanding this house and the stone it was built from was no longer available. A pattern close in size went up on the addition and was stained a range of colors to match the existing walls. It was photographed again fifteen years later and certified then.

What was wrong

The stone the house was built from was out of production. The customer found a pattern close in size to the existing stone, which settled the coursing and left the color open. The seam between old wall and new runs down an inside corner beside a downspout, where nothing hides it.

What was done

Mineral stain, worked stone by stone rather than one flat color across the wall. The phrase in the file is stained the stone a range of colors to closely match the existing home. A test area went in first, at that same inside corner.

What fifteen years prove

The 2021 frames show the addition and the original house reading as one range in flat winter light. On the certification scale fifteen years is Gold. As of 2026 the work is twenty years old, and the 2021 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 351, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
