Lightening Bunched Dark Brick on an Osgood Ohio Home

The brick on this single-story home went up with the dark units bunched into patches instead of spread through the wall. The company that made the brick paid to have them lightened rather than replaced. It was photographed again seventeen years later and certified then.

What was wrong

The brick arrived with its dark units clustered rather than spread. The file says it in seven words: several areas of dark brick in bunched areas. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty. The wall read as patches instead of as one range.

The brick manufacturer paid for the work, not the homeowner and not the builder.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed in by hand, on the dark units only. The correction in the file is five words: we lightened the dark areas. The brick around them was left alone, which is why the finished wall still reads as a range of reds rather than one flat colour.

What seventeen years prove

The house was photographed again in August 2019 and certified on that visit. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. The note in the file is one line: 17 years later, this project still looks great. As of 2026 the work is twenty-four years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 121, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
