Restaining Brick Damaged by a Power Washer in Ohio
A power washer took the face off the brick on this Ohio house. The homeowners hired the correction in 1999, and the same gable end was photographed again twenty years later and certified then.
1999
What was wrong
The file puts it in eleven words: this home's brick were severely damaged by a power washer. The 1999 frame shows what that means. The gable reads dark and patchy, whole areas of it several shades away from the units beside them. The homeowners hired the work themselves.
What was done
Mineral stain, matched to the brick the washer had not reached. The line in the file is that all the damaged brick was stained to look like the original, so the correction had to disappear into the wall rather than cover it.
2019, twenty years on
What twenty years prove
The same gable, twenty years apart. The wall holds one range from the beds to the ridge, and the stained units do not read apart from the ones the washer never reached. On the certification scale that is Platinum, twenty years and over. The work is twenty-seven years old.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 256, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
