The long side wall of the Ohio ranch house in 2019, red brown brick running one range down its length under a white soffit

Staining the Join Between an Ohio Home and Its Addition

An addition went onto this single-story brick home and the brick between the new work and the old did not match. The homeowner hired the correction in 1995. The house was photographed again twenty-four years later and certified then.

What was wrong

An addition had been built onto the house and the brick where new met old did not match. The file puts it plainly: the area between the new addition and the old brick was very off-colored. Nothing had failed; two runs of brick did not read as one wall. The homeowner hired the correction.

What was done

The work was confined to the join. The file records it in one line: we stained the area between the new addition and the old. One range across the seam, not a new color for the house.

What twenty-four years prove

In the 2019 frames the long wall reads as one range of brick from end to end. On the certification scale that is Platinum, twenty years and over. The file's own note is shorter: the home looks great 24 years later. As of 2026 the work is thirty-one years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 326, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
