The gable end of the Mooresville house in 2019, its brick one even salmon range from the lawn to the roofline

Taking Blotchy Dark Red Brick to Salmon in Mooresville

The brick on this house was blotchy and too dark in places, and the owners wanted salmon rather than dark red. The company that made the brick paid to level the walls in 2007. The house was photographed again twelve years later and certified then.

What was wrong

The file puts it in one line: the brick on this home was blotchy and too dark in areas. Nothing had failed. The range read heavy and uneven from one elevation to the next, and the owners had wanted salmon, not dark red.

What was done

Mineral stain, worked brick by brick. Some of the dark red units were carried to salmon so the walls read level instead of patched. The file calls it leveling out the walls. The work closes a range rather than covering one, and every unit keeps its texture.

2019, twelve years on

  1. The gable end of the house in 2019, salmon brick running from the lawn to the roofline past two shuttered windows, with the porch wing beyond 2019 View this photo larger
  2. The same gable peak in 2019, the brick holding one salmon range across the courses under a blue sky After, 2019 View this photo larger
  3. The same inside corner in 2019, both walls reading as one salmon range from the downspout to the shuttered window After, 2019 View this photo larger
  4. A close view of the wall in 2019, salmon and grey units set course by course so no single brick stands out of the range After, 2019 View this photo larger
  5. The covered porch in 2019, a wicker swing and chairs against salmon brick walls with a red lantern hanging at the far end After, 2019 View this photo larger

What twelve years prove

Same gable, same corner, same porch. The stained units still sit inside the range around them, close enough that the 2019 detail frame has to be read course by course. The file marks this one Gold, a level the scale sets at fifteen years and over; the revisit frames are twelve years on.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 301, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
