A single-story brick house in Massillon seen from the front lawn in 2019, its brick one even red range

Correcting Power Wash Damage on a Massillon Home

Pressure washing left damage across the brick on this single-story house. A mason contractor paid to have the damaged areas color corrected rather than leave them showing. The house was photographed again eighteen years later and certified then.

Case No. 243
Structure Single-story brick home
Location Massillon, Ohio
Stained May 2001
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 18 years, Gold level

2001

  1. An outside corner of the brick house in 2001, the wall blotched and streaked in grey and dull red where the washing hit it Before, 2001 View this photo larger
  2. A ladder standing against the gable end of the house in 2001, the brick pale and patchy across the wall below the arched attic window During, 2001 View this photo larger

What was wrong

The brick had been damaged by powerwashing. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty; the washing had taken the color off the faces it hit, leaving the wall blotched. The file puts it in eight words: there was powerwash damage on the building.

It was hired by the mason contractor, not the homeowner. Someone in the trade decided the state of a finished house was their own problem, and paid for staining over replacement.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand. Only the damaged areas were touched, not the whole elevation, which is why the finished wall still reads as the range of brick it was built from. The phrase in the file is color enhanced the damaged areas.

  3. The gable wall of the house seen from below in 2019, the brick running unbroken up to the soffit and around the attic window 2019 View this photo larger
  4. The arched attic window in its brick surround in 2019, the soldier arch and the wall around it reading as one even range 18 Years After View this photo larger

What eighteen years prove

Same house, same walls, and brick that still reads as one range rather than as patches. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-five years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 243, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
