Darkening Light Buff Brick on a Lima Office Building
The buff brick on this two-story office building ran light in places, and the customer wanted those areas blended in. The business hired the correction in August 2003. It was photographed again sixteen years later and certified then.
2003
What was wrong
Nothing had failed. The buff brick carried light units scattered through the wall, and the customer wanted a better blend to mask the light areas, in the words of the file. The reason on the form is marked Other, not a complaint and not a color change. The business hired it directly.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, one unit at a time. A slight percentage of the light brick was darkened to sit in the range of the wall around it; the rest was left alone. The file keeps this job on record because a brick stained with a proven masonry stain still allows the brick to look natural.
2019, sixteen years on
What sixteen years prove
The wall reads as one range beside the blue tile of the entrance tower, with no darkened unit standing out as a patch. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-three years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 324, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
