The side of the house in 2019, its blended brick reading as one tan and grey range under the eaves

Blending the Brick Range on an Indiana Home's Elevations

The homeowners looked at the brick on their new house and wanted it torn down. The colors in the range did not agree with each other. The company that made the brick paid to have every elevation blended instead, and the house was photographed again ten years later and certified then.

Case No. 305
Structure Two-story brick home
Location Indiana
Stained 2009
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 10 years, Silver level

2009

  1. A long brick wall in 2009 under a pale soffit, its units running from cream and pink through to slate grey, with bare soil at the footing During, 2009 View this photo larger
  2. A brick wall in 2009 under a deep overhang with a downspout at the right, the courses mixing tan, cream and dark grey units During, 2009 View this photo larger

What was wrong

The file is blunt about it: the homeowners rejected the brick and wanted it torn down because of color problems all throughout the range. The house was new. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty. The Hired by line reads brick manufacturer, so the company that supplied the brick paid to put it right.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed in by hand. Not one color over the whole house: the file says we worked on every elevation so the range of brick was blended like it was supposed to be. The two 2009 frames carry burned-in camera dates a month apart, in November and in December.

What ten years prove

The mark on the file is Silver, and the scale printed on the same sheet puts Silver at ten years and over. This one sits exactly on that line, stained in 2009 and signed in 2019. Ten years on, the garage gable, the side wall and the corner all read as one range. As of 2026 the work is seventeen years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the house. This is the one for case 305, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
