Color Enhancing Power Wash Damage on a Hudson House

Powerwash damage ran through the brick on this house. The mason or contractor hired the correction, not the homeowner. The damaged areas were color enhanced in 1997, and the house was photographed again and certified twenty four years later.

Case No. 412
Structure Single family home
Location Hudson, Ohio
Stained 1997
Re-photographed 2021
Elapsed 24 years, Platinum level

1997

  1. The outside corner of the house in 1997 while the work was underway, red brick with scattered darker units and bare dirt still around the foundation During, 1997 View this photo larger
  2. Three tall windows in a row in 1997, small stain cups sitting on two of the sills and an extension ladder standing against the brick between them During, 1997 View this photo larger

What was wrong

The file records powerwash damage throughout the home. Washing a new brick wall hard enough to take mortar off it burns the face of the units, and what is left is a blotching that further cleaning does not lift. The mason or contractor hired the correction, not the homeowner.

What was done

The file's phrase for it is short: the damaged areas were color enhanced. That is a unit by unit correction of what the water took off, carried back into the range of the wall around it, rather than a color change across the elevation.

What twenty four years prove

The 1997 work was photographed again in 2021 and certified then. Twenty years and over is Platinum on the certification scale, and the file's whole comment on the revisit is that the job still looks great today. As of 2026 the correction is twenty nine years old.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 412, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
