The brick front of the house in 2019, the garage wing and the bay window reading as one even salmon and tan range

Lightening Dark Blotchy Brick on a Glenmoore Home

A few areas of the brick on this house went up dark and blotchy against a lighter range. The company that made the brick paid to have them lightened rather than cut out and replaced. It was photographed again twenty years later and certified then.

What was wrong

The wall was not one color. A few areas had gone up dark and blotchy against the lighter brick around them, and the file says it in a line: there were areas of dark red brick that did not belong in the range.

It was hired by the brick manufacturer, not the owner and not the mason. The company that made the brick treated the color of a finished house as its own problem, and paid to correct it rather than have the wall cut out.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, unit by unit. The dark units were lightened into the range of the ones around them, so the wall still reads as several close colors rather than one flat coat. The phrase in the file is: we lightened the dark brick.

What twenty years prove

Same house, same elevation, and a range that still reads as one wall. On the certification scale twenty years is Platinum, the longest band on the sheet. As of 2026 the work is twenty-seven years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 219, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
