Matching a Franklin Indiana Home Addition to the House
The brick on the new room did not match the brick on the house it was built against. The homeowner had the addition stained to match in 2003, some units lightened and some darkened. It was photographed again eighteen years later and certified then.
2003
What was wrong
The addition went up in a brick that ran lighter and pinker than the house, with fewer dark units in the blend. The file puts it plainly: the homeowner wanted a better brick match for their addition. The June 2003 frame shows the seam where the two walls meet, with tape strips marking off courses on the new side. The homeowner hired the correction.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, unit by unit. The file records the match as made by both lightening and darkening: some units brought down toward the dark headers in the original blend, others brought up.
2021, eighteen years on
What eighteen years prove
One blend across the corner, the addition and the house reading as a single wall. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-three years old, and the 2021 revisit is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed when someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 385, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
