Staining a Mixed Run of Brick on a Fishers House
A different run of brick got mixed in on this house in Fishers, Indiana. The homeowner had the off color units stained to a closer match in 1999. The wall was photographed again in 2021, twenty-two years on, and certified Platinum, the top of the scale.
1999
What was wrong
Two runs of brick on one wall. The file puts it in a single line: a different run of brick got mixed in on the house. In the 1999 frame the lower courses of the side wall read paler and pinker than the red above them.
What was done
The off color brick was stained for a closer match, in the file's own words. Mineral stain, brushed into the individual units, so only the wrong run moved and the rest of the wall was left as laid.
2021, twenty-two years on
What twenty-two years prove
The same wall in 2021, one range from the downspout to the arched window. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which starts at twenty years. The storyline on the form is six words: looks great all these years later.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 394, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
