Staining Inside and Outside Corner Shapes in Warren
The shaped brick at the corners of this Warren building did not match the wall around it. The brick manufacturer paid to have both the inside and outside corners stained to match in 1999. Photographed again in 2021 and certified Platinum.
1999
What was wrong
Shapes are the brick units made to turn a corner rather than run straight, and here they did not match the field brick. The Before frame shows it: at the inside corner the units read grey against the red of the wall. The file puts it in five words, the shapes did not match. The brick manufacturer hired the correction.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand. The file records both internal and external corners stained, and nothing else. The field brick was left alone and the shapes were brought to it.
2021, twenty-two years on
What twenty-two years prove
The inside corner in 2021 reads as one wall through the downspout and around the turn, with the cast stone arches either side of it untouched. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which starts at twenty years. The form was signed in 2020 and the revisit frame is labelled 2021; both clear the threshold.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 379, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
