Darkening Light Brick on a Two Gable Ohio Home
A few areas of brick on this two-story house came out lighter than the range around them. The company that made the brick paid to have those areas darkened rather than replaced. It was photographed again eighteen years later and certified then.
2001
What was wrong
The file puts it in one line: there were a few areas of light brick that did not match the range. Nothing had failed and nothing was dirty. The Hired by line reads brick manufacturer, so the company that made the brick paid to put it right.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed into the brick by hand, unit by unit. Not one color over the whole wall, and not the whole wall at all. The file says what was corrected in six words: we darkened the light colored brick. Everything already inside the range was left as laid.
2019, eighteen years on
What eighteen years prove
The mark on the file is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over on the certification scale. The storyline is the owners' own: the homeowners are still very happy with how their house looks 18 years later. As of 2026 the work is twenty-five years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the house. This is the one for case 124, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
