The arched brick entry of the Ohio house in 2019, its brick reading as one even warm red range

Color Correcting Power Wash Damage on an Ohio Home

A powerwash left damage on the brick across the front and both sides of this house. The mason or contractor hired the correction, not the homeowner. It was photographed again twenty-two years later and certified then.

  2. An outside corner of the house in 1997 under its hipped roof and cream eaves, the brick reading as blotchy pink and mauve across both faces Before, 1997 View this photo larger

What was wrong

A powerwash took color off the brick. The file records where in one line: there was powerwash damage on the front and both sides of the residence. It also records the scale, which is unusually candid for a case file. Not as severe as some we have seen, it says, but enough to upset the homeowners.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, on the damaged areas only. Not a coat across the elevation. The phrase in the file is that the damaged areas were color corrected, so the brick the powerwash never reached is still the brick the house was built with.

What twenty-two years prove

Same house, same walls, and the corrected areas still reading with the brick around them. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which covers twenty years and over. The claim in the file is that stained brick still weathers naturally, and twenty-two years of Ohio weather is what the 2019 frames are. As of 2026 the work is twenty-nine years old.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 254, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
