Staining Accent Brick Red on a Michigan Office
The pattern was already in this wall, laid up in the brick coursing, and from the road it had gone flat. Selected units were stained red by hand so the panels would read again. It was photographed again eight years later and certified then.
2011
What was wrong
The file puts it in six words: the building looked dull and outdated. Nothing had failed. The basketweave and checker panels were already in the wall, laid up in the coursing, and from across the road the whole elevation read as one flat tan field.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, one unit at a time. Selected bricks inside the existing panels were taken to red so the pattern would read again at road distance. The reason recorded on the form is addition or makeover, and the file credits the idea to the restoration company.
2019, eight years on
What eight years prove
Same wall, same panels, and a pattern that still reads at road distance. On the certification scale that is Bronze, which covers seven to nine years. As of 2026 the work is fifteen years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 214, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
