Repairing Power Wash Damage at a Michigan Home Depot

The brick on this store was damaged by powerwashing while the building was still going up. It was color corrected in 2000, photographed again nineteen years later, and certified then.

Case No. 275
Structure Home Depot store
Location Michigan
Stained June 2000
Re-photographed 2019
Elapsed 19 years, Gold level

2000

  1. A bay of new brick on the store wall in June 2000, the color running pale and uneven across the panel, a ladder leaning at the pilaster and bare ground at the base During, 2000 View this photo larger
  2. The long side elevation in June 2000, its brick reading dark and flat below a cream precast band, with graded dirt still at the wall and no planting in During, 2000 View this photo larger

What was wrong

The file records the issue in seven words: there was powerwash damage on the building. Both 2000 frames carry a burned-in camera date, 6 7 '00 and 6 8 '00, and both show the store still under construction, with graded dirt at the wall.

It was not hired by the owner, the mason or the brick company. The Hired by box on the form is marked Other.

What was done

Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, and only where the damage was. The file says the affected areas were color corrected, and the storyline calls the result color enhanced to look good and natural again.

What nineteen years prove

Same building, and a wall that reads as one brick at distance and at unit scale. On the certification scale that is Gold, which covers fifteen years and over. As of 2026 the work is twenty-six years old, and the 2019 certification is the most recent record on it.

The signed file

Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 275, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
