Matching Filled-In Openings on a Lincoln City High School
Door and window openings on this high school had been filled in with a brick that did not match the wall around them, and the owner wanted a better match. The mason contractor hired the correction in 2000. The wall was photographed again in 2021 and certified Platinum.
2000
What was wrong
Openings in the wall had been bricked up, and the fill-in brick was not the wall's brick. The file puts it in one line: the door and window fill-ins had a different brick, and the owner wanted a better match. In the 2000 close-up the panel between the two joints reads darker and browner than the brick on either side of it.
What was done
Mineral stain on the fill-ins only. The original wall was left as it was and the new brick was brought to it. The file records the correction in a single sentence: the door and window fill-ins were stained for a better match.
2021, twenty-one years on
What twenty-one years prove
Same panel, same two joints, same utility box at its foot, and the fill-in reads as the wall. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which covers twenty years and over. The file calls it a restoration project that still looks great over 20 years later.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 388, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
