Color Enhancing Blotchy Red Brick in a Garage Gable
The brick in the gable above this garage door came out blotchy red against the rest of the run. The manufacturer who made the brick paid to have the gable color enhanced in 2007. It was photographed again in 2020 and certified then.
2007
What was wrong
The gable is one run of grey brown brick with an oval vent set into it. Above the garage door a patch of units came out blotchy red, the file's own words, and read as a different brick from the wall around them. The manufacturer hired the correction, not the homeowner.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, over the brick in the gable. The file calls it color enhancing: the red units were brought into the range of the rest of the wall so the gable reads as one run from the peak to the door.
2020, thirteen years on
What thirteen years prove
Same gable, same vent, one range from the peak to the door. On the certification scale that is Silver, which covers ten years and over. The file's own count is fourteen years; the two dates on the form, 2007 and 2020, make thirteen. As of 2026 the work is nineteen years old, and the 2020 certification is the most recent record on it.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 352, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
