Darkening Light Brick Into the Wall on a Fraser Home
Some of the brick on this single-story home came in lighter than the range it was sold as. The brick manufacturer had the light units darkened into the wall rather than replaced. The house was photographed again twenty-three years later and certified Platinum.
1998
What was wrong
The file records one issue: light brick should not have been in the range of color. Units paler than the blend the wall was sold as were laid in with the rest, and on a new house on a bare lot they read as scattered pale patches. The brick manufacturer hired the correction, not the homeowner.
What was done
In the file's words, darkened the light brick to blend into the wall. Mineral stain on the light units, brought to the range of the brick around them.
2021, twenty-three years on
What twenty-three years prove
One range across the entry piers, the gable and the wall beside the garage, in winter light. On the certification scale that is Platinum, twenty years and over. The 1998 prints carry a camera date of May 1998 and the revisit frame is captioned 2021, which is the twenty-three years the file counts.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 369, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
