Taking an Elyria Restaurant From Light Grey to Red
The owners of this two-story restaurant wanted a new look and had its light grey brick stained a red in 2003. The file records the stain holding fifteen years, until the owners chose a new color again and coated the whole building. Photographed again in 2020 and certified Gold.
2003
What was wanted
Nothing was wrong with the brick. The file's own line is that a new look was wanted for the restaurant, and the business hired the work itself. On the certification form that is a makeover, not a complaint.
What was done
A total makeover, in the file's words, from light grey to a red. Mineral stain, worked in by hand across the whole elevation. The first 2003 frame catches the day the work began, with the front corner already turned; the second is the same wall finished.
2020, seventeen years on
What the file records
The stain held fifteen years, holding up perfectly in the file's words, until the owners wanted a new color again and put an opaque coating over the brick. That is what the 2020 frame shows. The job stayed on a watch list to follow how a coated wall holds up, and the stain was certified Gold, the level for fifteen years and over.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 348, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
