Blending Off Color Brick on a Two Story Aurora House
Brick went up off color in different areas of this two-story house. The brick manufacturer, not the homeowner, hired the correction in 2000. Photographed again twenty-one years later and certified Platinum, the top of the scale.
2000
What was wrong
The form's issue line is one sentence: off colored brick in different areas on the house. Nothing had failed; some units had gone in out of range with the rest. The brick manufacturer hired the correction, not the homeowner.
What was done
Mineral stain, brushed on by hand, on the off color units only. The form's words: stained the off colored brick to both match and blend with the correct brick.
2021, twenty-one years on
What twenty-one years prove
One range across the front wall, the entry arch and the garage return. On the certification scale that is Platinum, which starts at twenty years. The 2000 frames are scanned film prints and the 2021 frame is digital, so the two eras read differently as photographs.
The signed file
Every certified job gets the same form, signed on the day someone goes back to the building. This is the one for case 407, transcribed beside the scan so it can be read on a phone and by a search engine.
