Top 3 Brick Staining Companies in Indianapolis
If you are looking for a brick staining company in Indianapolis, Carmel, Fishers or Zionsville, there are only a few that stain brick as their trade rather than as a sideline to painting. Here are the three we would call, starting with ourselves. We wrote this list, so it is not neutral: Bramwell-McKay is first and Masonry Cosmetics, who make the stain we apply, is second. The third is described from its own website.
The short answer: Bramwell-McKay Brick Staining, Masonry Cosmetics, and Bone Dry Masonry. All three use the same mineral stain system. Ask each for a sample panel on your own wall, the warranty in writing, and photos of their work years later.
After
How we picked these three
Every company on this list says on its own website that it stains brick as a service, not as one line buried under house painting. We read each site on October 19, 2026 and repeated only what it states: what it does, what it uses, how long it has been at it, where it works, and what its warranty says. We did not count reviews or stars. Where a site leaves something out, we say so and tell you what to ask.
Two things to know before you read on. We wrote this list, so we are first on it. And the company in second place makes the stain we apply, so it is a partner, not a rival. Judge the list by whether the facts under each name hold up, and check them yourself at the links.
Indianapolis is thin on true specialists. The first page of Google for this search is painting franchises and lead directories, and most of those directories are about concrete, not brick. We found one local company besides ourselves whose own site describes brick staining as a service with a named system. Painters who list brick staining next to brick painting are covered at the end.
1. Bramwell-McKay Brick Staining
Bramwell-McKay Brick Staining stains brick, block, stone and mortar for homeowners, builders and architects: whole-home color changes, additions and repairs matched to the original brick, color corrections on new construction, and commercial facades. The stain we apply is made by Masonry Cosmetics. It is a mineral stain, not a coating. It soaks into the pores of the brick and bonds with the masonry, so there is no film to peel, crack or blister, and the color never needs to be reapplied.
Every job carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials, in writing, and it transfers to the next owner. Before any wall is stained we do a sample panel on your own brick and adjust it until you say yes. The panel is $1,800 and comes off the final bill.
Indianapolis is our home market. Our office is at 38 W Main St in Carmel, and seventeen documented metro projects sit behind our Indianapolis page, in Carmel, Fishers, Avon and Indianapolis itself, most of them stained between 2000 and 2008 and photographed again in 2019. The Hayden House above is one of ours from this year. Our Indianapolis brick staining page has the local detail.
2. Masonry Cosmetics
Masonry Cosmetics of South Bend, Indiana is the developer and manufacturer of the permanent brick stain we apply, a process their site says has been used in the field since 1988. They are a manufacturer first, but they also stain for hire: their site offers full-service brick staining with certified contractors around the United States, and if a project is outside their own reach they connect you with one of their trained associates. They train and certify contractors at their South Bend facility in two-day classroom and hands-on courses.
Their stated warranty is a lifetime warranty on absorbent masonry, with two exclusions: a coating applied over the stain, or an act of God. Colors are custom mixed per job rather than picked from a chart, and they create a sample panel for approval before the work. If you want the manufacturer's own crew, or a certified applicator closer to you than we are, start with them.
South Bend is about two and a half hours north of Indianapolis, which makes central Indiana the one metro on our list where the manufacturer's own people are within a day's drive.
3. Bone Dry Masonry
Bone Dry Masonry is the masonry division of Bone Dry Roofing, an Indianapolis company whose site says it has been family owned and locally operated since 1989. Its brick staining page lists brick matching and brick staining for color match and resolution, additions, makeovers, repairs and restorations, alongside chimney repair, fireplace conversion and hardscapes. It states that it is certified by Masonry Cosmetics in brick matching and brick staining, so it applies the same system we do.
Its site offers a free inspection and estimate for staining and lists Brownsburg, Carmel, Fishers, Franklin, Greenfield, Greenwood, Noblesville, Whiteland and Zionsville among its service towns. Two things its staining page does not state: a warranty on the staining work (the 25-year craftsmanship warranty on the site is for roofing) and whether it does a sample panel. Ask for both in writing. Because the system is the same as ours, this is the one quote in town you can compare with ours stain for stain.
Painters who also list brick staining
CertaPro Painters of Indianapolis holds much of the first page for this search with a brick painting and staining service page and town pages for Zionsville and Noblesville. Its pages would not load for us, so we cannot tell you what it applies or what it warrants. If you get a painter's quote for stain, the question that matters is the first one below: what is in the bucket, and is there a data sheet for it.
What to compare before you sign
Whoever you call, the same five questions sort the field.
- What is in the bucket? Ask for the technical data sheet. A mineral stain soaks into the brick and leaves no film. A tinted coating sits on top, and sooner or later a film fails. The difference is laid out in brick staining vs painting.
- What does the warranty say, in writing? Lifetime, one year, or nothing. Read what voids it. A sealer applied over a mineral stain voids ours, and that tells you something about how the stain works.
- Will they do a sample panel on your wall? Not a photo and not a chip. A patch of your own brick, in your own light, before you sign.
- Can they show their own jobs years later? Dated photos of the same wall are the proof that matters for a product sold as permanent.
- Who shows up? A staining crew that does this every week, or a painting crew with a different bucket.
For a sense of the numbers, our own 2026 jobs around Indianapolis ran from $4,000 for a mortar color change to just under $30,000 for the whole two-story house in the photo above. The breakdown is in how much does brick staining cost.
